hi. i am your heart.
I am located little to the left of the middle of the chest. do you know, i am about the size of your fist. beating at 72 beats per minute and approximately 2.5 billion times during an average 66 year lifespan. i weigh an average 250g to 350g.

i am
like a pump, or two pumps is one. the right side of mine receives blood from the body and pumps it to the lungs. the left side of mine receives blood from the lungs and pumps it out to the body.

how do i beat
before each beat, i get filled wi th blood. then muscle contracts to push the blood along. when i contract, i squeeze. you know how it feels? try squeezing your hand into a fist. i do this all day and night, all the t ime, pumping about 6,000 - 7,500 litres of blood daily.

i am a real hardworker, like your bike or car engine.
you get it serviced regularly in a professional service station.

why not me?
