gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which the stomach contents (food or liquid) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). this action can irritate the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.

i require a check-up, if:

• there is frequent heartburn or acid indigestion (burning in the lower part of the mid-chest, behind the breast bone, and in the mid-abdomen)
• there is experience a dry cough, asthma, sore throat symptoms or trouble swallowing
• you are overweight- especially recent weight gain
• undergone hiatus hernia
• delayed stomach emptying
